Met up with Emory(@clickfire) and his beautiful wife at the ALoft in Homewood last night after the WordCampBham09 finished up for the day and took them to dinner. Talk was mostly of the “What is it you do?” and “What do you use for web design in Linux?” vernacular but was very interesting.
We split a pie at Davenport’s Pizza Palace and then headed back to ALoft for a brief display of Ubuntu Linux on my HP dv1000 laptop for Emory. I was hoping to get him interested enough to try it out at home sometime and also gave him a live CD of Ubuntu 9.04 to try out. I’m no presenter but I’m thinking I at least got his interest peeked to try it.
Seeing as they were pretty much tired from the day’s events, we bid them a good night and headed back home to watch the remainder of the Auburn-Ball St. game. Auburn won handily so the night was complete.
By the way, Emory is a whiz at SEO so if anyone is interested in contacting him about it, give him a shout on Twitter @clickfire. He also runs an interesting site called Clickfire – Web Reviews and How-to’s where you can gain some new knowledge about things to do with web design, web hosting and a whole lot more!

Hey Scott, thanks for the kind words; the feeling is mutual. We enjoyed the company. Getting to see you both really made the trip for us. I’m committing to give Ubuntu 9.04 a whirl. I’ll let you know how it goes. Yikes, I didn’t realize that there was an Auburn game that night, me being a UGA alumni

That’s OK. Auburn won.
Let me know if I can do anything when you get ready to install Ubuntu.
