I’ve mentioned that I like Linux many times and that I also have a laptop running Linux Mint 8 which is the latest release of the Linux Mint distro. I got this machine from my son in law who, along with my daughter, decided to use a Mac instead of Windows or Linux. I wiped it right after I got it and installed Linux Mint 7 which was the latest release at the time and have been using it since. It runs Mint flawlessly too I might add.
I have several of my favorite apps installed such as Twhirl, Firefox, Google’s Chrome browser, the GIMP, Bluefish, Kompozer, PuTTY, Rhythmbox and Pidgin to name a few. Most of my use consists of Firefox, the GIMP and Bluefish for webpage editing duties it seems.
In any event, the laptop works well for my needs and Linux will be the only system used on it. The specs of this model laptop are below in case anyone is curious. This was taken from HP’s website:
